Africans and Descendants St. Albert and Art Gallery of St. Albert present “Caxixi Rattle” Live Virtual program through Ringcentral (powered by Zoom)

Join Africans and Descendants St. Albert and Art Gallery of St. Albert in a celebration of culture. Music meets art in this virtual class where we will create a “Caxixi Rattle” together. These beautiful rattles are percussion instruments found across Africa and South America, traditionally crafted through basket weaving, utilizing gourds and seeds. The rattles we make will be a modern, artistic interpretation utilizing recycled and on-hand materials.

Gallery staff will guide you through the steps and Africans and Descendants St. Albert will co-present and provide fun and informative knowledge on the uses of the caxixi.

The Gallery will be providing material kits starting one week in advance of the program which can be ordered and collected from the Gallery in person-or through curbside pick up. These kits are free, but donations are welcomed to assist with material cost.
