Marcel Belley, David Bowering, Bruno Canadien, Tony Stallard, Barbara Todd and Dean Turner

October 29 – December 3

Opening reception: Thursday, Nov 3, 2016, 6–8:30 pm

Blood, Toil, Tears explores the conflict between the politics of war and human values. The exhibit reconnoitres the mortal element of war—it contemplates and commemorates soldiers who fought and who were lost, as well as civilians and societies displaced by warfare. The artworks and artists take a wide-ranging look at history, individuals and populations affected by historic and recent political struggles and unrest.

The exhibit acknowledges that the act of on-going Remembrance is just one powerful tool to observe lessons from the past.

The exhibit is comprised of artworks from the Art Gallery of St. Albert collection, artworks from local and international artists, as well as works loaned from the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Special open hours on Friday, Nov 11, 10 am-2 pm for Remembrance Day.
