Specialized programs offered at Art Gallery of St Albert and at the St. Albert Visual Arts Studios are tailored for different stages of lifelong learning. Our adult programming provides ongoing presentations, events and learning opportunities that complement our exhibitions, engage and stimulate discussions, and enrich learning.  Give the gift of an art-making experience: gift certificates are available for many of our programs!

Interested in artistic exploration and social interaction? Ageless Art for mature adults encourages both! Enjoy coffee, tea and treats as you expand your art-making skills with inspiration from gallery exhibitions. Benefit from professional instruction and artist grade materials in an art studio setting.  Each month features a new art experience. Advance registration required.

Spring Programs

Acrylic Painting – Basic Beginnings
Adults 18+

This class is an ongoing series that will appeal to the beginner as well as painters looking to improve their technical skills and explore this versatile medium. Join this introductory course to learn basic techniques and skills to make beautiful and expressive paintings. You will explore the technical side of painting with acrylics through a variety of exercises and projects geared to build strong skills and flex your creative muscles. Experiment with special effects of various paint applications, colours, grounds, mediums and tools. Come to class with a sketch book and pen, all other support will be provided.

Cultivating Creativity – Retreat
Adult 18+

Cultivate your creativity with Art Gallery of St Albert. Release your inner artist for a day of art-making fun!

Bring your group and roam the studios and immerse yourself in creativityas we guide you through a day of imagination and exploration. Each studio will hold a different artistic adventure – from mixed media, to paper arts and printing. You will take home three artful treasures! Bring a bag lunch or check out our local restaurants at noon. Coffee, tea and cookies will beavailable when you arrive in the morning, and throughout the day. Preregistration required.

Pottery-Wheel Throwing: Level 1 

Adults 18+

Excellent step-by-step instruction for absolute beginners and great if you need a refresher! Start with the basics of throwing and carry on with learning efficient and traditional techniques for working on the pottery wheel. Create numerous handmade and unique projects that will develop your skills in throwing, trimming and glazing. Fee includes one box of clay, glazes and firing. Tool kit available from Instructor: ($25).

Registrants must have throwing skills, be prepared to push their limits and have fun! Pottery – Clay Connection
Youth 11- 17

Experience the fun challenges of working with clay on a professional potter’s wheel! Explore traditional throwing techniques and glazes by creating a wide variety of intriguing projects! Fee includes clay, glazes, use of tools and firing. Dress for a mess! You must be 11 years old before the class starts to take this class. Location: Pottery Studio, St Albert Place.
